Celebrate Nacho Day the RIGHT WAY!

They're cheesy, spicy, full of flavor, and sometimes messy, but they are absolutely delicious! Nachos are a family favorite, supposedly most craved by pregnant women, and certainly a food that deserves it's own day. If you're looking for the best place to get nachos at the Lake of the Ozarks, Salsa on the Strip can serve up the best nachos around. Our amazing toppings and fresh ingredients make Salsa on the Strip and ideal place to enjoy your evening.

"Nacho" Ordinary History Lesson

Nachos originated in Piedras Negras, Mexico, which is just across the border from Texas. On a random day in 1943, some American soldiers' wives came into the restaurant of Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya. It was closing time, and there wasn't enough ingredients to make a full meal, but Ignacio did have a few tortillas, some cheese and jalapenos. He tore the tortillas into pieces, and sprinkled the cheese and peppers on top, and stuck in the oven to melt the cheese. The women enjoyed this snack so much, and he called them "Nacho's especiales". Later on "Nacho" opened his own restaurant in Piedras Negras, and called it "Nacho's Restaurant". His original recipe was printed in 1954 in St. Anne's cookbook.

"You put WHAT on your Nachos??"

We're all about piling on the toppings with our nachos! Peppers, rice, cheese, salsa, olives and more. Chicken, beef, pork, and lots of vegetables are all delicious ways to spice up a great plate of chips - but there are a few creative (or weird) people who decided to change up the nachos dramatically. Check out these strange nacho ingredients!

  • Popcorn Nachos
  • Strawberry, Basil and Mascarpone Dessert Nachos
  • Sloppy Joe Nachos with sloppy joe sauce and ground beef.
  • Asparagus and Hollandaise Sauce Nachos
  • Tuna Melt Nachos with Triscuits, tuna, jalapenos and ketchup
  • Sage Brown Butter Artichoke Nachos
  • Potato Nachos - just replace the chips with potato wedges
  • Reuben Nachos - complete with corned beef, swiss, sauerkraut and thousand island.
